Sometimes predictions age better than anyone could have imagined.
Back at Triton Jeju II in September last year, Triton regular Mario Mosböck made a bold call about fellow Austrian Bernhard Binder, who at the time was still a relatively unknown quantity to the wider community.
“I think Bernhard Binder is probably one of the best players at the moment,” Mosböck said when discussing which newcomers were most likely to break through in 2026.
“He has only played poker for like two and a half, three years, which is insane. Incredible, sharp guy, super fast learner and fantastic poker player. So I think he will absolutely crush, and it’s just a question of time until he wins a lot of tournaments.”
The prediction began to materialize before the year was even over when Binder captured the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event in December for a life-changing $10 million payday. And if there were any doubts that result might be a one-off, Binder has spent the early months of 2026 removing them entirely.
